TEAM TIMBER EVENTS
have a great weekend!
Enjoy the Weekend, ya'll deserve some time off. Sure it's crazy with hunting season upon us.
Same for elk?
Positional errors = muscular compensations.
Let’s dive in deeper...
Often, archers will find themselves in poor position because it allows them to avoid using proper strength. The body wants want to be in the position of least resistance, so when an archer doesn’t have adequate strength and stability, they will unknowingly find positions that require less work.
💥 For example:
A. Realigning the spine, the first correction made in the video forces the archer to raise the bow properly with muscle instead of countering the bow’s weight with their body.
B. Raising and retracting the elbow back forces better muscular engagement of the back instead of holding full draw with only the bicep and wrist.
C. Depressing the front shoulder forces the archer hold the bow with their shoulder instead of overloading the musculature of the neck.
Note: the poor position at the start of the video was something I saw from a follower and it represents common errors made because of muscular compensation. ... See MoreSee Less

The best exercise to build your draw strength, period.
💥 The Prone Dumbbell Row
Why is this exercise so effective?
The bench removes 99% of your ability to compensate and cheat by moving, arching, or bending your torso. When you cheat, you avoid the proper mechanics that build draw strength. This is a HUGE reason archers become stagnant when trying to build draw strength by only shooting their bow— there is so much freedom in a standing position (shooting) that the archer can simply adjust their torso without realizing it to give themselves a mechanical advantage so that they no longer need the extra strength to draw the heavier poundage. If a movement doesn’t require you to have more strength, then you won’t build more strength.
❗️The Prone Dumbbell Row forces you to load the back musculature and build strength in the pulling muscles that will transfer to your draw.
🔑 SLOW, CONTROLLED REPS. I can’t emphasize that enough. Lead the row by squeezing your shoulder blades together first, engage the lats, and follow through with your elbows. ... See MoreSee Less
A row should be done in more of a backward motion not straight up. Think more of putting something in your back pocket not pulling a lawn mower

Strong work Timber Mesa Outdoors
What a success.
Do to the extreme price increases imposed by the new leadership of Sunrise to both shooters and vendors, Timber Mesa Outdoors will not be having a booth at the Sunrise 3D Shoot this year. Although we do agree that price increases are necessary throughout the years, tripling prices just because “we are the premier archery event in the west” is not right. The Sunrise Shoot has always been about friends and family gathering for a fun weekend of shooting. Sunrise has made it financially detrimental to the archery family. We wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! ... See MoreSee Less
I hope all vendors and family stay home from the shoot!
We won't be going this year... just too expensive to take my whole family. 🙁
Thank you for boycotting the event. My entire group did as well. Not only the price hike but not allowing nonshooters to walk the course with the shooters removed the family aspect. Sad to see it ruined. Hoping the reduced numbers makes them reconsider next year.
I actually get all my stuff from timber mesa...so much so that my son left his jacket thier last time and they gave it to is again on Friday!
I appreciate and applaud your decision. I sincerely hope EVERY vendor and participant follows the lead of you and many others like you.
We aren't going this year also, we support your decision as well!! It's really sad. I loved shooting up there over the 4th every year!! 😔
$70 for a family for all weekend! New course design this year! New competitor smoker course this year! Paul Line Big Bear kids course!
Maybe you guys could all come to the blue rooster!! We had our first ever archery tournament. The terrain is amazing! We want to make it better and better! It was a little to hot yesterday we may need to do it earlier
The terrain at the blue rooster is awesome and lends itself to some amazing shots!
I am not going!
I definitely won’t be attending! Their loss
Well, look at the bright side. We won't be stuck waiting behind those families that shoot 10 to a group on the fun courses this year. Me? Looking forward to the shoot.
Totally agree Brian Cronin..I think this has gotten a little out of control..Living in the White mountains myself, I always look forward to this shoot because of the beautiful scenery it is located in. I myself will not be attending do to outrageous prices.. It is about family and friends enjoying peaceful times together..
Well said Timber Mesa!
Under new management and changing things up, not good
The new leadership has blamed the increase on refurbishing the building and doing updates. Absolutely ridiculous that they think that they were going to gather all that money in one weekend to do all there fixes. Most stupid idea. Hope they change everything back to the way it was!
They told us Saturday they fun course would be open, got there Sunday and it was closed. Disappointed kids, I wasn’t going to pay $240 bucks for my family to shoot. Crazy!
So upsetting. You are definitely NOT the only one!
The price increase is unwarranted. You are not the only vendor not going. There are a lot of archers not going as well
I kind of want to go just to see if it really gets that boycotted? Timber Mesa....Have u guys talked to them at all about it?
We aren’t going for the first time in over 20 years, ☹️ because of the ridiculous price increase.
Not going this year
Not going for the first time in 8 years
Totally agree!! We aren’t going for that reason!
So this might be a dumb question, byt has anyone looked into the new ownership? In the aspect they are antihunter? Like i said stupid question but was just curious what everyone thought???
Don’t make this common posture mistake! Many archers struggle with this, including myself. This mistake is natural... but WHY?
💥 Picture yourself at full draw as a “T”.
The bow side of the T is longer and more heavily weighted from the bow. Therefore, it’s natural that we want to compensate by shifting our bodyweight away from the weight so that it’s easier to keep your bow raised.
However, this often causes the archer to hold lazily and drop their bow arm.
⚠️SOLUTION: equal weight on both feet. If you’re leaning backwards, you’ll feel more weight on your back foot. Equaling your weight across both feet will allow you to stand vertically, then, raise and stabilize your bow to aim and drill X’s. ... See MoreSee Less
